Auto theft suspect shot by police identified as 25-year-old man with ties to Pueblo

A man accused of firing several gunshots during a two-county police pursuit before being shot by a detective in Pueblo West has been identified as a 25-year-old man with “ties” to Pueblo.

The incident began with an alleged auto theft in Monument. It ended with a Monument police detective shooting the suspect, Michael R. Trujillo, according to a Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Law enforcement has identified the man involved in an officer-involved shooting in Pueblo West on Tuesday night as Michael Trujillo, 25. Trujillo, who has ties to Pueblo, remains in a Colorado Springs hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/chHbTd4v51
