Reno’s ‘Walk and Roll with a Doc’ Event Promotes Inclusivity and Wellness at Teglia’s Paradise Park

Residents of Reno looking to stretch their legs or spin some wheels will have a perfect opportunity on November 12 as the City of Reno’s Adaptive Program teams up with AARP Nevada to host the ‘Walk and Roll with a Doc’ event. The gathering meant to foster both community and wellness will take place at Teglia’s Paradise Park, kicking off at 10 a.m. with leadership from Dr. Ellia Ciammaichella, a known osteopath and Physiatrist.

The event will not only promote health and social interaction, but it will also serve as the premiere of a new Fun2Go side-by-side adaptive bicycle, an addition that caters to cyclists of different abilities and ages. Obtained through a 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant this bike exemplifies the push towards inclusion and expanded access in recreational activities. According to a statement by Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, “We are so excited to expand opportunities for our adaptive community as it’s important for people of all abilities to have the chance to get outside and stay active,” as reported by the City of Reno.

The event organizers encourage attendees to arrive prepared, bringing their own water and wearing comfortable footwear for the walk around the park’s scenic environs which boasts accessibility for wheelchairs, strollers, and, of course, the new adaptive bikes. Helmets will stand as a non-negotiable for those who opt for a two-wheeled experience…
