The Lovelady Center in Birmingham, a long-term residential recovery home for women and children, will be hit hard by the shortfall in SNAP funding due to the federal government shutdown.
Lovelady relies on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for more than $80,000 in monthly food assistance that affects 600 women and children daily, said Frank Long, director of development at Lovelady.
