Family disputes police account after Fort Dorchester student detained at gunpoint

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A North Charleston police officer drew his weapon on a Fort Dorchester High School student Thursday morning after reports that the teen had a gun on campus.

Police said a staff member told the school resource officer that a student claimed to have a firearm. When the officer approached the student in the cafeteria, the department said the student told him he had a weapon.
