Amazon revives plans for delivery center in Gaines Township

Amazon is reviving plans for the third piece of a distribution hub southeast of Grand Rapids that calls for a 216,000-square-foot delivery station near two existing warehouses.

The proposed DGX2 last-mile delivery facility, located at 4495 68th St., is near the e-commerce giant’s sprawling $150 million regional fulfillment center that opened in March 2020 in Gaines Township. Amazon’s original plans that called for three buildings partially stalled three years ago when DGX2 was put on hold. An equipment hub operates just north.

“We’re in the very early stages of construction for a new delivery station in Grand Rapids, which will allow us to provide faster delivery and great service to local customers,” Amber Plunkett, an Amazon spokesperson, told Crain’s Grand Rapids Business in an emailed statement. “We appreciate the support of Gaines Township and look forward to sharing more when we can.”…
