BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA – A woman from Alabama has gone viral after discovering that her health insurance premium is skyrocketing from $122 to $853 a month — an increase so steep that she says it will make coverage impossible to afford.
In a now-viral TikTok video, the woman, who is self-employed, shared her shock after receiving a renewal letter from Blue Cross, confirming that her new monthly rate will take effect on January 1, 2026. Holding up the paperwork to the camera, she vented her disbelief.
