Jupiter’s new park rules target e-bikes, scooters, bicycles in pursuit of safety

JUPITER — E-bikes, and their wheeled brethren from scooters to bicycles, are prohibited from riding on fields, sidewalks or other terrain in Jupiter’s parks after the town council unanimously passed sweeping changes to park rules Nov. 6. Going forward, those vehicles can ride only on the roads.

The new rules, the first update to park rules in more than 30 years, took aim at curbing the dangers of e-bike riding in public spaces, but also included many other changes addressing everything from park hours to drone launches.

The hope is that the more expansive rules will help police officers keep the public safe in those spaces and make the town’s regulations more consistent with Palm Beach County park rules…
