After vendor departures, struggling SF food hall has its biggest exit yet

It was only about a year and a half ago that Saluhall, the massive Ikea-adjacent food hall, opened with lofty goals of bringing life back to downtown San Francisco. Since then, it’s struggled to gain traction, with numerous vendors exiting due to a lack of foot traffic. Now, the project is seeing its biggest exit yet: Saluhall has parted ways with its operator, British developer Kerb Food, as first reported by the San Francisco Standard.

Ingka Centres, IKEA’s and Saluhall’s parent company, confirmed the split to SFGATE in a statement.

“After an exciting first year and a half building and launching Saluhall together, Ingka Centres and KERB have decided it’s time for a new chapter,” read the statement. “We’ve agreed that Ingka Centres will take over the day-to-day management of Saluhall — a decision made with a lot of appreciation and mutual respect.”…
