WTOC Exclusive: Mother speaks out after New Hampstead High School SRO incident

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – A mother is speaking out exclusively with WTOC after her 17-year-old son was hospitalized and arrested following an altercation with a School Resource Officer (SRO) at New Hampstead High School on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has released a statement regarding the incident, which reportedly began when an SRO suspected a group of students, including her son, of concealing a vape device.

The student was subsequently charged with Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction by Hindering a Law Enforcement Officer, and Possession of a Tobacco Product by a Minor Under 21 Years of Age.
