Syracuse judge to woman who fatally stabbed man in neck: ‘You haven’t learned’

Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse judge scolded a woman on Friday just before sentencing her to 26 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man last year.

Shandrika Kersey, 29, was sentenced to 26 years in prison for stabbing Markel Washington, 49, in the neck last year, killing him.

“You haven’t learned from what has happened, and you didn’t learn from this offence,” Judge Melinda McGunnigle told Kersey. McGunnigle said the defendant had a history of violence from well before the murder up to her time of sentencing…
