Brady Dental Group offers free dental work to veterans, active-duty military in ‘Smiles For Freedom’ event

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Brady Dental Group announced it will provide free dental treatment to more than 50 veterans during its “Smiles For Freedom” event on Friday, including “cleanings and all forms” of dental work for veterans and active-duty service members.

“We have a heart for our veterans,” said Dr. Kimberly Gilbert. “Dr. Laura Turner, Dr. Jordan Short, Dr. Shealee Allen, Dr. Chris Brady, our entire staff and I have been thinking of ways that we can honor those people whose service to our country allows us to freely do what we love to do.”

While VA health care and the VA Dental Insurance Program do cover dental care for some veterans, according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs, many are not. Events such as “Smiles For Freedom” and other resources and programs like the Family Care Foundation’s Dental Health program may be able to offer services to veterans, active-duty service members and their families who fall through the cracks.

Brady Dental Group said free screenings were previously given in October to determine the work needed for each individual veteran. The group has partnered with Lone Star Oral Surgery under Dr. Aaron Atkins to offer free extractions as part of the event…
