Diorama lights to dim forever: Battles for Chattanooga Museum announces permanent closure

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Tenn. — A longtime Lookout Mountain attraction that told the story of the Civil War battles fought around Chattanooga has permanently closed its doors.

A message on the Battles for Chattanooga museum’s website says…

Battles for Chattanooga is permanently closed. Thank You to all our visitors over the years who came to learn more about the history of the Battles for Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain.

The museum, located near Point Park on Lookout Mountain, officially closed in late October.

For decades, the museum drew both tourists and history enthusiasts with its diorama displays, multimedia presentations, and panoramic views of the Tennessee Valley’s battlefields…
