South Carolina’s civil rights leaders held a press conference at the South Carolina State House on Thursday to call on Governor Henry McMaster to take emergency action to protect SNAP benefits for more than 556,000 South Carolinians. The coalition urged state leadership to prevent families from losing food assistance due to federal budget disruptions, stressing that “no one in South Carolina should go hungry when funds have already been appropriated.”
