KENDALL, FL — A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy was fatally shot Friday afternoon during a violent encounter that unfolded while responding to a traffic crash in the Kendall District, authorities confirmed.

Deputy Devin Jaramillo, 27, had been dispatched to the scene of a reported collision near the 12200 block of Southwest 128th Street. According to Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, the situation escalated when Jaramillo was attacked and shot during an altercation with an individual involved in the incident. The suspect then turned the weapon on themselves and died at the scene. A second person is currently being questioned by investigators.

Emergency calls from bystanders prompted a swift response from fellow deputies, who administered first aid to Jaramillo. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital…
