Huntsville’s ‘useless overpass’ to get a new look

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Locals call it the “useless overpass”. It’s between Drake Ave. and Airport Rd. on Memorial Parkway. And it’s about to get a fresh look from ALDOT.

A spokesperson for ALDOT says, “Paint helps protect steel parts of a bridge from the elements and can extend the structure’s lifespan.”

The overpass was built in the late 60s, and while it doesn’t cross over an intersection, it does a provide a useful place to turn north from the Parkway access road…
