Teen boy shot in leg in Knoxville, police investigation underway

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department is investigating after a 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg behind an East Knoxville apartment Friday evening.

According to police, officers responded to the 400 block of Taylor Homes Road around 6 p.m. to investigate a shooting.

Sheriff’s Office: Man dead after Friday shooting in Hawkins County

KPD said officers at the scene discovered the teen behind an apartment with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.

Officers interviewed multiple witnesses. The department said at this time, it has not been determined how the teen was shot.
