LAPD Seeks Public Help to Track Down Suspect in Hollywood and Larchmont Rental Fraud

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division is on the hunt for victims of a rental fraud scheme. Per details provided by KTLA, a man identified only as “Igor” has reportedly used stolen personal identification to apply for apartments in Hollywood and the Larchmont areas. With fraudulent cashier’s checks in hand, this individual has navigated the rental process under false pretenses.

Described as a Black male adult, adorned with dreadlocks and a beard, or possibly a goatee, the man has prompted an appeal from the LAPD for public assistance. Running counterfeit checks and leveraging stolen identities, “Igor’s” ploy hinges on the personal information of the unwitting. The LAPD released a suspect photo on their official website, believing that several rental and property management firms might have fallen prey to his tactics.

Detective Juan Campos of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Division is leading the charge against this deceit, his contact details disseminated for anyone bearing information or having suffered at the suspect’s hands. “The suspect used other individuals’ personal identification information to complete rental applications,” noted the LAPD in their outreach for additional victims. Those with relevant information can reach out to Campos at 213-486-5995 or [email protected]…
