Mobile County Health Department Honors Nurse Practitioners Serving Our Community

Family Health is the primary care division of the Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) in Mobile, Alabama. The organization is recognizing nurse practitioners (NPs) during National Nurse Practitioner Week, which takes place from November 9 to 15, 2025. The theme for this year is ‘NPs: Trusted Voices, Proven Care.’ The week aims to acknowledge the work of NPs in providing care to communities across the country.

The nurse practitioner profession began in 1965 with a program created by Drs. Loretta Ford and Henry Silver. Today, there are more than 431,000 NPs in the United States.
