Retired Nashville Police Dog, Sgt. Bo, Wins AHS National Hero Dog Award For His Work With Kids After Covenant School Shooting

That’s a good, award winning boy.

Every year, the American Human Society (AHS) awards one dog as the Hero Dog of the Year. Hundreds of dogs are nominated across the country, and are split up into a number of different categories – including military dogs, therapy dogs, shelter dogs, service and guide dogs, and law enforcement and first responder dogs.

This year, one of the finalists was 4-year-old mixed breed from Nashville, Tennessee by the name of Sgt. Bo. He was nominated as a therapy dog, and also could have fit into the category of law enforcement and first responder dogs (Sgt. Bo just recently retired from the Metro Nashville Police Department along with Officer Faye Okert, his handler)…
