JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -This weekend is starting out well above average as afternoon highs are warming into the low 80s on Saturday. After that, things will take a dramatic shift. By Sunday, northerly winds will gust in keeping high temperatures in the low 60s. This flow of arctic air will strengthen into the work week, prompting First Alert Weather Days.
Next week will bring our first freeze of the season. Monday will start with temperatures around 32 degrees and wind chills in the 20s. Wind chills will remain in the 30s for the rest of the afternoon with gusts up to 25mph. The wind will die down overnight, and temperatures will fall to the upper 20s for lows.
