LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 8)–The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a 42-year old woman. Just after 2:35 pm Friday emergency personnel responded to a car/pedestrian accident in the area of South 84th St and South Cherrywood Dr. Lincoln Police Captain Duane Winkler told KFOR News the initial investigation determined that a red 2010 Jeep Compass driven by a 19-year-old man traveling northbound on South 84th street approaching the Mopac Trail crossing when it stuck the pedestrian who was crossing the street. Medical personnel provided aid to the 42-year-old woman who was transported to a local hospital, but despite the emergency efforts she was announced deceased shortly after arrival.
