Police Arrest Armed Suspect After Late-Night Incident in Lloyd District; Investigation Underway

On the night of November 5, 2025, police arrested 43-year-old Robert D. Hatley in Portland’s Lloyd District. Officers responded to reports of a naked man with a handgun in the 400 block of Northeast Hassalo Street. The suspect was not found immediately, but officers later located him near Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street. As officers approached, they heard a gunshot and saw the suspect running south with the weapon.

An officer used a police vehicle to strike Hatley, causing him to drop the gun. Hatley continued to flee after being knocked down. Officers confronted him again on Northeast Holladay Street. He did not comply with commands, so officers used a Taser and took him into custody. Hatley was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and remains in police custody.

Hatley, a Portland resident, is charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
