Friday evening update:
Warming trend this weekend- highs in the upper 70s, and some places even touching 80. The more noticeable difference will be with the low temperatures though, which are 10-15 degrees above average. Why? The cloud cover that has moved in will keep us warmer overnight, along with south winds ahead of a cold front, ushering in the warmer air. No heavy jackets needed, but you may want to keep the rain gear with you.
It will not be a washout this weekend, but I am giving it a 30% chance of rain and storms both Saturday and Sunday. We have a complex setup with a lot of uncertainty on how many storms we will see and how strong they will be. A few showers and weak storms will be possible overnight, and then we could have stronger to severe storms Saturday afternoon and evening, but very isolated in nature. Our primary threat is hail, if these storms were to even develop. Sunday morning will start out dry, but additional storms likely in the Southeastern portion of the CSRA during the afternoon, producing gusty winds. The chance of severe weather is overall very low, so no need to cancel outdoor plans, just don’t be alarmed if you happen to be in one of the areas that does see a storm develop…
