Amherst police have released body-worn camera video of an incident in which a woman was shot by officers last week. After reviewing the incident, the Erie County district attorney says the officers were justified in their use of force.
The DA’s office says officers with the Amherst Police Department responded to an apartment complex on Durham Drive on Oct. 28 to follow up on a menacing complaint from the previous day. At the address, the DA’s office says officers encountered Tonisha Green, 26, of Amherst, armed with a knife, outside her apartment.
Prosecutors say over the course of several hours, Green refused commands to drop the knife. Eventually, an officer fired shots at Green, wounding her and bringing the standoff to an end. Officers rendered first aid to Green and recovered the knife, according to a statement issued by the DA’s office…
