Lexington pair accused of assaulting construction workers, driving away with crew member’s phone

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Two Lexington men were arrested on Thursday for allegedly fighting members of a road construction crew and hitting one of the workers with their own phone before stealing it.

According to court documents, around 1 p.m. on Nov. 6, John Obando, 24, was driving on Lackawanna Road with Hector Paguada, 20, in an active road work area. Workers asked Obando to stop while they completed their job.

A police report shows that Obando was allegedly caught on camera driving past the crew before he and Paguada both got out of the car, at which point the driver threw a traffic cone at the workers.

The pair allegedly proceeded to fight the construction crew members, throwing one of them to the ground, taking the victim’s phone, and hitting them in the head with it “several times,” per an arrest citation. Then Obando took the person’s phone, and the pair left…
