Indiana Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase from Clarksville Ends in Fiery Crash on I-65 in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY — A police chase that began in Clarksville, Indiana, crossed state lines and ended in a violent crash on Interstate 65 in Louisville Thursday night, leading to the arrest of a man who was allegedly armed with an AK-style rifle, authorities said.

According to Clarksville Police Chief Nathan Walls, officers attempted to stop a vehicle around 9 p.m. after receiving information that it may have been involved in another crime. When officers tried to pull the driver over, the man refused to stop — instead, he allegedly tried to ram police vehicles, striking one cruiser during the attempt.

Chase Crosses Into Louisville

The pursuit escalated quickly, with the suspect fleeing across the Ohio River into downtown Louisville, where he ultimately crashed near the St. Catherine exit off I-65 South. Authorities shut down the exit ramp and a portion of the highway temporarily while clearing the wreckage.
