Wendy’s expected to close around 300 stores nationwide, Nevada locations’ fates unclear

Wendy’s is looking to close hundreds of locations before the end of 2025, the CEO told investors on Friday. Whether that includes locations in Reno-Sparks is still unclear.

The restaurant chain opened a new Sparks location in October but even with the addition, Nevada has a fraction of the Wendy’s locations compared to other states. Ohio, where the fast food chain began, has nearly 400 locations, while the Silver State has less than 50.

Information about the closures came out when Wendy’s Interim CEO Ken Cook told investors in a Friday, Nov. 7, quarterly earnings call that the fast-food company would be closing a “mid single-digit percentage” of locations. With around 6,000 locations still operating nationwide, this would amount to roughly 240 to 360 stores. One investor estimated the number at about 300 locations during the call…
