HANOVER, MD—Maryland transportation officials and community leaders gathered today to unveil a new roadside historical marker, formally recognizing the 75-year history and significant legacy of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport). The unveiling is a capstone event in a year-long series of initiatives marking the airport’s three-quarter-century milestone.
The marker acknowledges the airport’s pivotal role in advancing aviation, driving economic growth, and connecting Maryland and the National Capital region to destinations worldwide. It will be installed near the BWI Trail at the Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Aircraft Observation Area on the airport’s south side, offering a permanent reminder of its historical significance.
