Sue and Nick Randall once loaded their restaurants’ names with qualifiers. There was no mistaking what you were getting into with them.

Lest customers envision the staff scooping ice and slinging whole fish, as in the distant past, their 20-year home in Fishermen’s Village thus became Village Fish Market & Restaurant. Its outdoor sign announced it as a New England Style Seafood Village Fish Market Restaurant and Lounge, all of which it certainly was, except for the market bit.

Their first southern outpost in Punta Gorda, La Fiorentina, proclaimed itself La Fiorentina Steakhouse Italiana, and then La Fiorentina Steakhouse Italiana, Home of the Porterhouse, which pretty much said all that could be said on a single pylon sign…
