Virginia Zoo offering free admission to federal employees during shutdown

NORFOLK, Va. — The Virginia Zoo is stepping up to support federal employees impacted by the ongoing government shutdown, offering free admission starting Saturday, Nov. 8. Zoo officials say the offer is intended to “bring joy and connection” to the community during this uncertain time.

Federal employees can receive free admission by showing a valid federal ID at the ticket booth. Friends and family members who visit in the same transaction will receive 50 % off their tickets. Children under 2 still get in free. The offer does not apply to special events.

Zoo staff noted they will continue to monitor developments of the shutdown and update the public if anything changes. For hours, visitors can refer to the zoo’s website for ticket information and details about the offer…
