Deputy’s legacy lives on after being killed in line of duty in Kalamazoo County

KALAMAZOO, MI — A family’s life was rocked when Deputy Ryan Proxmire, a father of three, was killed in the line of duty.

Proxmire, a deputy at the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, was shot Aug. 14, 2021, during a high-speed chase while he was pursuing a driver on the east side of Kalamazoo County.
