BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing money from a patient under her care at an assisted living facility.
According to an arrest affidavit, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies were notified after a victim’s daughter discovered fraudulent checks in her mother’s checkbook made out to Kelsianna Smith, 31. The victim’s mother resides at Holly Court Assisted Living & Memory Care, where Smith is employed.
Investigators determined that eight checks, ranging from $150 to $475, had been made out to Smith and deposited into her bank accounts, totaling about $2,390.90 in losses. The victim’s daughter provided bank statements confirming the deposits, and a search warrant later verified the findings…
