SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Kingdom Shears Salon in Suffolk offered free haircuts to federal workers affected by the ongoing government shutdown, with the initiative starting Sunday, Nov. 9.
The salon, which typically remains closed on Sundays, decided to open its doors to support government employees who are struggling financially due to the shutdown. The initiative was announced on social media, inviting all federal workers to come in with their government work ID to receive a free haircut.
“We wanted to come together as a staff to show love and support for our community,” said Elnora Hughes, co-owner of Kingdom Shears Salon. “So many people are working but are not getting paid, and we wanted them to know that the community backs them.”…
