Mocs Top Tars in Tight Four-Setter

Winter Park, Fla. – Rollins battled through a competitive four-set contest on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Mocs of Florida Southern (15–25, 20–25, 25–21, 28–30).

The Mocs opened strong, posting a 66% sideout rate and capitalizing on a handful of Rollins errors to take the first set. The Tars found their rhythm in the second, trading points in a back-and-forth battle highlighted by five kills from Emma Gongora. With the set tied at 20, Florida Southern used a five-point swing to close it out and go ahead 2–0. The Tars stayed composed in the third, creating separation behind kills from Marta Tsaneva and Cameron Grange, followed by a Gongora ace. A late block from Makayla Moran and Tsaneva sealed the frame and extended the match. The fourth set proved to be the most thrilling of the night, with Tsaneva adding eight kills in the fourth alone to keep Rollins close throughout. The Tars fought back from a 20–23 deficit behind kills from Tsaneva and Grange, followed by another timely ace from Gongora. The teams traded points to 28–28 before a contested call flipped the score to match point in favor of the Mocs, finding space through the middle to secure the win.

Rollins held the statistical edge in kills, assists, and blocks in a match that featured 32 ties and 16 lead changes. Tsaneva capped an outstanding weekend with 16 kills on a .364 hitting percentage, while Moran joined her above .300 and led the team at the net with eight total blocks (six assists, two solos). Repass added five block assists, and Grange turned in a strong two-way performance with 15 kills and 12 digs.
