MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An overcrowded jail system is being blamed for a recent rise in inmate deaths in Shelby County.
“We need to invest more into the mental health services and support for these individuals. There are many beds that we can begin to clear out at 201 Poplar and have those beds for those more violent criminals,” said Shelby County Commissioner Charlie Caswell Jr.
