Sacramento Community Holds Vigil for Man with Cerebral Palsy, Caretaker Arrested on Multiple Charges

In a somber gathering on the south side of Sacramento, family and friends mourned the loss of Richard McClintic, a 59-year-old man with cerebral palsy found dead in his apartment after being missing for nearly two weeks. As reported by ABC10, relatives and community members paid tribute at a vigil, leaving balloons, flowers, and candles to honor the man who pushed through life with a remarkable strength, despite his physical challenges.

Christina Cowens, 41, has been arrested and is being held without bail, facing grim charges including unlawful disposal of human remains and grand theft, with additional charges possible as investigations continue. While conducting a search warrant at Woodbridge Apartments in South Natomas, Sacramento police uncovered McClintic’s body, with the victim’s family confirming his identity, as per information obtained by KCRA 3.

Family members described McClintic as someone who never allowed his disability to define his life, always portraying a radiant smile and a curiosity about the world. His oldest sister, Sherry Klagenberg, expressed her despair, questioning how such a tragedy could occur.
