At least 7 robbed or carjacked as overnight holdup crews hits Boystown, Lincoln Park, River North

Chicago police are investigating at least five robberies and carjackings that unfolded overnight across the city, from Boystown to Lincoln Park and River North. Some of the incidents may have been carried out by the same armed crew. No arrests have been made.

The spree began around 1:30 a.m. with a carjacking outside a Lincoln Park bar. According to preliminary information, two armed men confronted a man in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue and took his gray Dodge Charger. The stolen car fled the area, followed by a silver Hyundai that police said had also been reported stolen. Officers later found the Charger abandoned near Goose Island.

Less than 30 minutes later, another armed robbery occurred in Lincoln Park. Around 1:55 a.m., two men, ages 25 and 26, were standing in the 600 block of West Wrightwood Avenue when three men armed with guns got out of a sedan and threatened to kill them. The robbers stole both victims’ wallets and phones before fleeing. No injuries were reported. Police later found the getaway car unoccupied in the 2400 block of North Clark Street and recovered some of the stolen items inside…
