For six years, with a brief COVID-era interruption, the Madison New Music Ensemble has been bringing music by living composers to Madison concert halls. Led by Joseph Koykkar, a professor emeritus of music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a longtime member of the Wisconsin Composers Forum, the group is a sextet including flute, clarinet, violin, viola, keyboard, and percussion. On Thursday, November 13, the ensemble will perform at Art Literature Laboratory at 7:00pm. Doors open at 6:30. The program will include music by Libby Larssen, who also happens to be the composer-in-residence for the 2025-2026 LunART festival. Other highlights include a solo flute work by Adolphus Hailstork, works by Jessie Montgomery and David Baker, and the world premiere of a piece by Koykkar himself……
