Runners in bear onesies support local nature centers

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Bear Creek Nature Center hosted the 11th annual Bear Creek Bear Run Fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 8, with over 400 runners in bear onesies raising support for the non-profit Friends of El Paso County Nature Centers.

The day featured quirky activities, such as a costume contest, bear yoga, a pre-run dance “Paw-ty,” and the bear run as the main event.

“My favorite part is seeing the spirit that people bring to this event. It’s obviously a fun run. It’s quirky by nature,” said Mary Jo Lewis, Bear Creek Nature Center Supervisor. “Just seeing how people really invest in the fun of this and come out with their brightest, most comical spirit, it just really warms our hearts.”
