STATE SWIMMING: Owyhee boys end Boise’s run atop 6A

BOISE — Everything fell into place for Owyhee to knock Boise off the top spot on the podium.

The Brave’s boys swim team had won each state meet since the IHSAA began sponsoring the state competition in 2018. Last year was the closest Boise had come to losing its top spot in 6A, tying with Mountain View for the state championship.

The Storm were able to finish the job this year by a slim margin. It came down to the final event — the 400 freestyle relay — for Owyhee’s state title to be confirmed. The Storm finished with 158 points, two points ahead of Boise, to win state for the first time in school history for either the boys or girls at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center Saturday night…
