ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Arctic cold air is rushing into the region on gusty northwest winds. The temperature at Grandfather Mountain dropped to 12 with a 50 mph wind on Monday morning, taking the wind chill down to -12!
Winds will gust between 25-40 mph in lower elevations throughout Monday with temperatures stuck in the upper 20s to low 30s. Dress for wind chills in the 20s Monday afternoon and teens Monday evening.
Snow showers this morning taper back a bit this afternoon, then ramp up again this evening. We’ve already seen some accumulation on Monday morning, and more will be added overnight.
