Power restored to customers in Georgetown Township

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A pole fire knocked out power to more than 1,000 customers in Georgetown Township for several hours Monday morning, causing three Jenison schools to operate on a delay.

Crews responded to the area of Bauer Road and 20th Avenue for an outage that affected about 1,150 customers, the Consumers Energy interactive power map showed.

The outage was first reported around 4:30 a.m. It was traced back to an equipment issue that caused a pole fire near Jenison High School, Consumers spokesperson Brian Wheeler told News 8. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office also reported downed power lines in the area.
