WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — As a cold front sweeps through South Florida, counties across the Treasure Coast are activating emergency shelters to protect vulnerable residents from overnight temperatures expected to dip into the 30s. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown of shelter availability as of Monday afternoon.
St. Lucie County – Shelter Open
An emergency cold weather shelter is open at Percy Peek Gym, 2902 Avenue D, Fort Pierce. Operated by In the Image of Christ, the shelter will be open from 5 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday. Free transportation is available from several locations in Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce between 6–8 p.m.
Martin County – No Shelter
As of now, no cold weather shelters have been officially reported in Martin County. While temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s, officials have not announced any shelter activations.
Indian River County – No Shelter
The Salvation Army in Vero Beach at 2655 5th St S.W. is opening a warming shelter from Monday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. through 7 a.m.

Okeechobee County – No Shelter
The County said it is partnering with RiteLife Services, Inc. to open a warming center for overnight hours from Monday, November 10, through Tuesday, November 11. The county is expecting temperatures to reach 30 degrees.
