Knoxville Recognized Nationally for Accessibility and Affordability for Residents with Disabilities

Knoxville, Tennessee, has been named the most accessible and affordable city in the United States for people with disabilities. The ranking comes from Trajector Medical’s 2025 report. This announcement coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Trajector Medical provides medical evidence services for people with disabilities. The company cited Knoxville’s focus on accessibility and affordability.

Misha Dziubak, an ADA coordinator in Knoxville’s Disability Services Office, said the city is proud of the recognition. She stated that accessibility and affordability have been priorities for city officials and the Disability Services Office. Dziubak also said that the recognition reflects years of planning and community involvement. She emphasized the importance of including people with disabilities in public decision-making.

Knoxville created the Mayor’s Council on Disability Issues (CODI) six years before the ADA was signed in 1990. CODI acts as an advisory board and gives feedback on programs and events for the disability community.
