One beloved teacher got a special surprise during what she thought was a routine school assembly.

On Thursday, Nov. 6, Ore Valley Elementary School’s staff and 650 students were gathered in the auditorium for an assembly for the York, Pa. school’s “CARES” initiative, per NBC affiliate WGAL 8. The program aims to teach kids to be compassionate, accountable, respectful, ethical and service-minded in order to foster a positive and inclusive school community.
