Winter weather impacts
A clipper system will drop into the region today, increasing the chance for snow showers this afternoon and evening. Bursts of heavier snow will be possible this evening. The best time for snow will fall from around 3pm through around 8pm.
Road conditions could worsen with bursts of heavy snow impacting the roads after 4pm or 5pm.
Snow totals will range from a dusting up to 2” in spots in the Tri-Cities; 2” to 4” in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NE Tennessee; over 6” + for elevations over 4000ft.
1” to 4” in SW Virigina.
Winter weather advisories have been expanded to include all locations. A Winter Storm Warning includes Unicoi and southern Greene counties for snow totals 6″ +.
