The South Dakota Department of Corrections and local authorities are alerting the public about a prison offender who has been placed on “escape status.”
37-year-old inmate Latoya Shangreaux did not return to the Pierre Minimum Center after reporting to her work release job site.

Latoya Shangreaux could be anywhere in South Dakota, and police need your help finding her. A new Facebook post from the South Dakota Department of Corrections shares the latest information about Latoya.
Thankfully, it appears that the public is not in any imminent danger. Here’s everyone we know about Latoya Shangreaux from the South Dakota Department of Corrections:
She is five-foot-six inches tall and weighs 205 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes, and visible neck tattoos. Shangreaux is serving sentences for possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear from Minnehaha County. If anyone sees Shangreaux or knows of her whereabouts, please contact law enforcement immediately. Failure to return to custody following an assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Keep in mind: If you or someone you know is keeping Latoya hidden, you would be guilty of a Class 5 felony. This is when someone conceals any prisoner, knowing that the offender has escaped.
