3 plead guilty to manslaughter in killing of French Quarter tour guide

NEW ORLEANS — Three suspects have pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the killing of a French Quarter tour guide, avoiding a trial that was set to begin Monday.

Jerben Albarec, 18, Joshua Bonifacio, 20, and Kevin Nunez, 16, had faced life sentences for their roles in the death of Kristie Gioe Thibodeaux, who was found shot inside her car on St Peter Street in June 2024.

According to police, the trio had robbed three men before stopping near St. Peter and Royal streets. Investigators said Nunez, who was 15 at the time, got out of the car and attempted to rob Thibodeaux before shooting her. Bonifacio was driving the vehicle, while Albarec was in the back seat…
