HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A new law aims to help Oahu’s older veterans by saving them some money.
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi held a press conference Monday, where he signed Bill 62 into law, which provides military veterans ages 65 and older an exemption from the city’s motor vehicle registration fee for one vehicle.
“As I understand it, we have some 13,000 veterans age 65 or older on the island Oahu; more than seven percent of them are living under the poverty level,” Blangiardi said. “Therefore, the spirit of this to make a difference.”…
