Flights being cancelled amid ongoing government shutdown

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Monday, Nov. 10, marked 40 days into the government shutdown. Flights into and out of Charleston International Airport were canceled or delayed on Monday, as FAA-mandated cuts are affecting air travel nationwide.

Flight reductions at 40 major airports began on Friday and hit nationwide on Monday. Over 2,300 cancellations and over 18,000 delays have been reported. Although Charleston is not on the list, the ripple effects are present in the Lowcountry.

On Monday, more than 20 flights coming into and out of Charleston International Airport were cancelled, and even more were delayed. One flyer at Charleston International explained she received a notification from her airline earlier in the day…
